Bobsleigh track, a new machine being tested

After 24 years of winter operation, the Olympic bobsleigh track is testing a new, world-exclusive self-braking machine that can go down the track on concrete in the summer.

For the past four years, students from the INSA in Lyon (National Institute of Applied Sciences) have been working on developing this prototype. Inspired by the bob raft, the self-driving, self-braking machine invented for and by La Plagne, has an articulated structure and an adapted braking system.

With a view to potentially commissioning it for the general public for summer 2017, trials on the bobsleigh track are being organised during the summer of 2016.

Please contact the press office for trial dates.
